Attendance Tracking using SEAtS is now live!

Unitec’s new attendance tracking software called SEAtS went live today. We’re now using Bluetooth beacons in class rooms so that students can check in via their smartphones for all timetabled classes. This will make life a lot easier for our teachers and students – no more paper registers and collection boxes!

Here’s a quick guide for teachers using SEAtS for the first time:

1. You can familiarise yourself with the SEAtS Attendance system by attending a drop-in training session.

Mt Albert:
> Monday 23 July, 10am – 2pm (180-3022)
> Tuesday 24 July, 10am – 2pm (180-3024)
> Wednesday 25 July, 10am – 12pm (180-3022)

Waitākere:
> Monday 23 July, 10am – 1pm (510 – social learning centre)
> Tuesday 24 July, 1pm – 4pm (510 – social learning centre)
> Wednesday 25 July, 9am – 11am (510 – social learning centre)

There’s also lots of information, including a training guide and FAQs on Moodle: Moodle SEAtS Info

2. Encourage your students to download the SEAtS mobile app before classes start, so that they can check into class – this will make the check-in process easier for teachers and students.  Feel free to refer your students to https://www.unitec.ac.nz/current-students/study-support/class-attendance for detailed instructions on how to download and use SEAtS.

 3. When your class starts, record attendance for all your timetabled classes via the SEAtS website:  https://attendance.unitec.ac.nz

 4. Be prepared to use a paper-based register if your class isn’t timetabled, or if you encounter any technical difficulties. Paper registers can be printed from PeopleSoft CS and check in the menu for Unitec Attendance Tracking.

If you experience any issues, please contact the IMS Helpdesk under 0800 ASK IMS (0800 275 467) or emailimssupport@unitec.ac.nz.
