Former Unitec Council member, Charmian O’Connor, has been named a Dame Companion of the New Zealand Order of Merit for services to education and chemistry.
Dame O’Connor sat on our Council from 2005 to 2014. She also served as Chair of the Audit and Risk Committee.
She is an Emeritus Professor of Chemistry and spent most of her career working on fundamental molecular behaviour.
Another significant achievement was transforming the New Zealand branch of the Federation of University Women into the Kate Edger Educational Charitable Trust, which now supports more than 100 female students each year. The Trust is currently taking applications for new members on their awards selection panel.
