The Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has made the following changes effective 1st April 2026, which will impact the applicable staff from our next pay day 14th April 2026 onwards.
ACC Earner Levy – increased from 1.67% to 1.75%
- The maximum fortnightly threshold increased from $5,876.54 to $6,024.65
- Therefore, the PAYE tax (which includes the ACC earner levy) will increase for most staff (up to a maximum of around $7.30 per fortnight).
Kiwisaver default rate – increased from 3% to 3.5%
- The Kiwisaver default/minimum rate will increase to 3.5% for both Employee & Employer contribution rates

Minimum Wage (Adult rate) – also increases from $23.50 to $23.95 per hour, but as Unitec currently pays the Living Wage (ie. a minimum of $28.95), this change does not impact us.
