This week, we successfully completed a project to recarpet the Waitākere Campus Library on level 3 of Building 520. This library is accessed via an ‘airbridge’ from Building 510. We encourage you to visit and see the new improved space.
Dipti Vora, Subject Librarian based at Waitākere, said:
“The new carpet creates a more welcoming, visually pleasing space. It will have direct impact on our ākonga and kaimahi mood and behaviour and increase productivity levels. It has made the library a more welcoming space and will foster more foot traffic and increase social interaction.”
We have seen a big increase in library usage in 2024 and we expect that to increase further in 2025. The carpet is now safer and robust enough to take the extra foot traffic.
The recarpet project is part of a larger project to redesign the library as a flexible space that can be used for a variety of purposes such as industry events or staff team building (during the breaks).
Sana Saleem, Subject Librarian – Pacific, said:
” The new carpet will create not only functional and adaptable interiors but also inviting and comfortable areas – ultimately improving the user experience of our learners and kaimahi in a meaningful way to use our fit for purpose library space.”
In 2025 we will have a second phase of the project to carpet the group study rooms and learning advisor support spaces as well as the new student “relaxation” pod (more about that to come).
