Student course survey results remain at highest level

Ākonga are rating our courses at an all-time high, according to the student course survey results for Semester 2 2024, released today.

Students rate our overall course experience 8.2 out of 10, which is on par with the last two semesters and continues to be at the highest level since surveys began in 2018.

Ratings towards course content, teaching, assessments and practical components have also continued the strong performance shown last semester.

Teacher ratings remain significantly high (average of 9.0 out of 10) with particularly strong levels for teachers being knowledgeable about the subject, creating a culture of respect for all students and being well-prepared for each session.

Pacific students show similar overall course ratings to non-Pacific, while Māori show slightly lower course ratings than non-Māori this semester.

This semester’s survey had a response rate of 32.9% which is similar to the 33.4% achieved last semester.

“The data helps us to identify trends across programmes, schools and the institute so that we can make informed decisions for the benefit of our ākonga,” says Simon Tries, Director, Te Korowai Kahurangi.

“It also allows us to identify the many areas of good practice, and we strongly encourage staff to share the results with their students to demonstrate that we value their feedback and to support the continued high engagement by students.”
