Kua tau te toki o aitua ki runga a tātou nei Tuākana o Pasifika i Wairaka. Kua rongo ake nei kua hinga a Jake Fuemana, tētahi o ngā kaimahi o te UPC. He teina hoki o Daniel Fuemana. E moe!

It is with much sadness that we share news of the passing of Jake Fuemana, a much-loved member of our Unitec Pathways College team and wider Unitec whānau. Jake joined Unitec in 2010 as a Technician in Building Technology, moving through the department as a lecturer in Building, Construction and Infrastructure until moving into the UPC in 2020.

Jake was passionate about inspiring our rangatahi to learn and develop their career pathways, was adored by his students and was the joker of the UPC team. He was a very proud and hardworking father and grandfather that led with his culture.

His loss is felt not only by his immediate team and wider Unitec whānau but the communities he has served over his many years as a lecturer.

Ngākau Māhaki will be open at 12:30 to 2:00pm on Tuesday, 26 March for a time of reflection. Further details will be shared as we receive them regarding visiting Jake at his home and any subsequent services.

Brother, you promised to go for Chinese Yum Cha together at Grand Park during semester break next month, but there won’t be a chance anymore. Thank you for always bringing warmth and joy to people. Rest in Peace!

To Jacob’s Aiga our thoughts and prayers are with you the Feumana family at this difficult time. You were a staunch unionist and went to great length to ensure your rights were heard. Go well Jacob, go to your ancestors waiting for you at those pearly gates. We will miss your amazing smile and cheekiness.

Jake we will miss your hummor and smile. You were a one of the first members of the social club and we spent many a happy time in your company. I remember doing early morning work outs with you and the heavy weights you used to lift. Life will not be the same with out you. May the sun always shine on you.
