November Wellbeing opportunities at Unitec | Te Pūkenga

Kia ora koutou!

With so much going on around us, it’s important to focus on our health and wellbeing. Below we share some activities to add to your calendar, including opportunities for connection, keeping active and looking after your mental health.

Health Checks

Monday and Tuesday 13 and 14 November 9.30am – 2.30pm, B110, Mt Albert Campus

Our Nursing students are back again for our annual health checks. There will be five stations at the B110 reception area for checking your blood pressure, eye sight, BMI, blood sugar and to chat about general health queries. No booking is required, please just drop in when it suits.

Join our first ever Book Swap!

Thursday, 23 November, 10.00am – 4.00pm, B110 Foyer

Brought to you by Unitec’s Book club, book swapping is a great way to discover new reads, share your love of books with others and sort yourself out for the holidays. Please drop off your donations behind B110 reception. Both fiction and non fiction items are welcome. And then, on the day of the event, drop in any time that suits to have a browse. For any questions please email connect@unitec.ac.nz

Get active this summer!

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursdays, both campuses

You might have already heard about our Exercise Lab, or Tuesday and Thursday yoga classes. We have recently added Pilate classes – Wednesday and Thursday mornings and even though we have only six weeks to go, you are still welcome to join. For more details on our fitness offerings, including payment instructions, please click here.

Enjoy a show, dance or a play – our own Unitec made gems

Times and venues vary

Choose one or go to both. From 8  to 12 November, you can watch a play – The Inspector General. Set in a small 19th century Russian town is a sharp and timeless comedy that continues to be celebrated for its biting satire, memorable characters, and commentary on the human condition and government corruption. From 16 to 19 November, you can enjoy unique dance showcase, acknowledging the many kaiako, tauira, and kaikanikani who have enriched the dance programme contributing to a living legacy of education through movement, time, and space.

Time to give biking a go!

E-bikes are getting very popular these days. So why not give them a go? You can join a guided free tour of our flash new bike paths on either 11th or 18th November, and check out the special deal for our staff and students, $1,400 off the retail price on two popular commuter e-bike models.
