Aotearoa’s Premiere Computing Education Conference

Tertiary education is changing. The transformation of ITPs into Te Pūkenga and the development of Generative Artificial Intelligence (GenAI) are two big changes that are happening right now. These changes present both opportunities and challenges for the field of Computing education.

CITRENZ is the premiere computing education conference in New Zealand and spans all disciplines of computing and information technology education. While focusing on tertiary education, it also provides links from secondary education and further into the computing industry. The conference regularly attracts more than 100 attendees from all over New Zealand as well as international delegates. This conference is open to all educators, professionals, and researchers in the wider computing and information technology community.

The CITRENZ conference will explore the latest trends in technology and education, embracing all computing disciplines and paving the way for a future-driven workforce.

Collective Intelligence – Exploring Mahi Kotahitanga in Computing

That’s the theme of CITRENZ 2023. Careers in Computing will take centre stage at the conference.  A key aim will be further increasing interest in IT and computer education amongst young New Zealanders.  In addition, the conference will consider options to increase participation in the industry by Māori and Pacific learners.

The conference covers, not only regular technology and education papers, workshops and panels, but also offers sessions to address the ongoing challenges and opportunities our education providers face. This is further enhanced with keynote speakers, social networking sessions, and participants from the industry. Each year, the conference is hosted in a different city. This year, we are pleased to welcome you at the Unitec | Te Pūkenga campus in Mount Albert, Auckland – 27-29 September.
