Auckland Climate Festival: forest baths, world changing games and more


Planetary health and our wellbeing are as intertwined as two things can be. Spending time outdoors and learning about the world around us are just some of the ways to take care of our own wellbeing. Auckland Climate Festival provides ample opportunity to do just that with over 150 events to choose from. Below you will find a shortlist of events, curated by our own Unitec Sustainability Club.

Forest Photography Walk
Saturday 16th September, 10am-12pm, Kohimarama Forest

Pourewa maara kai open day
Saturday 16th September, 10am-2pm, Ngāti whātua Ōrākei

Bring friends and whānau along for delicious kai, tour of the maara kai and nursery, learning about the history of the area, composting workshop and a mini working bee for making and painting recycled timber signs for the Maara and Nursery. To find out more and register, click here. 

Forest Bathing: A guided walk
Sunday 17th September, 10am-12pm, Auckland Domain

Food Security and the Just Transition
Wednesday 20th September, 7am-8.30am, Ellen Melville Centre

This breakfast event will be joined by speakers who are actively working alongside food-insecure communities. They will share their insights and experiences, shedding light on strategies to ensure that every individual has access to safe, nutritious and culturally appropriate food as we transition to a low-carbon future. Transporting us to a cooler future

At this Auckland Conversations we will explore the cooler transport future for Auckland: Why we have ended up with the transport system of today, what can be done to enable a cooler transport system for the future, and importantly how to make the changes needed to get us there. Why Wai?
Monday 25th September, 6pm – 7.30pm, Online

Join Six Generations, Ngaati Te Ata Waiohua and Denmark’s Klimatorium for a koorero exploring the festival’s theme: Ngaa hua o Wai. Auckland’s future economy, jobs and skills in a changing climate

We’ve gathered an awesome lineup of leaders working at different stages of the food system, who are on a mission to help reduce food waste and the emissions that come with it.
