Matariki Manaaki whenua – caring for our land and freshwater spring

Toitū te whenua, toitū te tangata

As the land endures, people flourish

Nau mai, haere mai. Join us during Matariki 2023 to help care for our taonga: Te Waiunuroa o Wairaka, a culturally and historically significant aquifer fed freshwater spring, situated at Mt Albert campus; and Rangimarie pā harakeke, a harakeke (phormium tenax/NZ flax) collection of significant varieties growing at Te Noho Kotahitanga marae. This will include general weeding, removal of invasive species and any litter.

Friday 28 July

We will begin with karakia at 9am. You are welcome to come along for part, or all of the day.

Please bring (if you have them) garden tools for weeding, and gloves.

We will have a shared kai at 12.30 pm.

Mauri ora ki a tātou katoa.

Please RSVP to twhite2@unitec.ac.nz if you plan to attend, to ensure we have enough equipment.
