Unitec researchers join PBRF evaluation panels

Four Unitec researchers have been chosen as PBRF Panel Members in the 2026 TEC led National Quality Evaluation.

Marcus Williams, Director Research and Enterprise, says this is a significant recognition of their capability, and reflects very well on Unitec/Te Pūkenga.

“It is an excellent learning opportunity for these researchers and will represent a generous contribution of their time.”

These researchers will serve on panels that evaluate the performance of individual researchers from across the tertiary education sector, forming the representation in this work from Te Pūkenga. Unitec/Te Pūkenga was the only Business Division which surpassed 1% of the $300,000,000 of PBRF funding in 2018.

“To put this in perspective, our sector and ngā wananga won 3% of this figure, the remaining 97% going to the universities,” says Marcus. “This underscores just how much work there is to do in order to realise the opportunities in research in vocational education and so please join me in congratulating the following colleagues for such important steps in this direction and the recognition of their esteem that this represents.”

Unitec- Te Pukenga should be rightly proud to have these amazing research academics on the PBRF Evaluation Panels.
