Performing Arts Teachers hit the stage in The Haka Party Incident

Creative Industries lecturer Alexandra Whitham, along with first and second year Performing Arts acting students, headed to Te Pou Theatre in Henderson to tautoko and celebrate Acting Program graduate and teacher on the BECI and Acting program, Kauri Williams, as well as Māori Performing Arts teacher on the Acting Program, Ariana Williams, for their roles in the remounted ATC production of the celebrated theatre show: The Haka Party Incident. Kauri plays a central role in the ensemble cast, and Ariana is working behind the scenes in a production support role. The show is playing in Auckland before going off on a tour around the country.

“It was awesome to see such a powerful work together as a school, and to witness our talented alumni and Kaiako in action. This show is a shining example of how knowledge of Te Ao Māori and Māori Performing Arts is an essential skill for contemporary New Zealand creatives, no matter ones’ cultural background,” Alexandra said.
