Sweat With Pride this June! Get a team together and get moving

Fight discrimination with perspiration – Sweat With Pride this June!

Between sitting behind a desk all day and getting stuck in commuter traffic it can be hard for us to find time to get moving! This June, sweat for at least 21 minutes a day to get active and raise money for our Rainbow communities. 21 minutes a day is the minimum amount of activity we need for happy and healthy bodies and minds.

Bring your team together, get up from your desk and improve your wellbeing while raising money for an awesome cause – and of course, make sure you have lots of fun!

We’d love to see photos of you and/or your team getting active – send pics to communications@unitec.ac.nz

Here’s how you can get involved:

If you’d like to track your exercise and raise money through sponsors, sign up for Sweat with Pride and join the Unitec Ally Network workplace. You can also make a one-off donation.

AND/OR

We’ve organised some free Unitec Sweat with Pride sessions:

1.  Unitec Exercise Lab in building 111.

Do your own thing, e.g. sit on a stationary bike, use a rower, or other machines, or join in some guided exercises led by Sport and Rec Lecturer Rob Gambolati. The guided exercises will include a short warm up and 21 mins of exercise through a variety of weights, machines, and other movements based on numbers and space.

When:

  • Friday 2 June: 11:45am-12:15pm
  • Wednesday 7 June: 12-12:45pm
  • Friday 16 June: 11:45am-12:15pm
  • Wednesday 21 June: 12-12:45pm
  • Friday 30 June: 11:45am-12:15pm

2.  Lunchtime walking group: 21-minute local walk at midday every Monday, Tuesday and Thursday (commencing 01 June). Meet Maree Lightfoot in the Rainbow Ally space in B180 (space between the sushi shop and events kitchen)

Walking meetings: Do your own thing with your team – try a walking meeting outside.

Get sweating, or just simply moving for 21 minutes each day! Any questions, please get in touch with Maree: mlightfoot@unitec.ac.nz or Rob: rgambolati@unitec.az.nz
