New communication tool being rolled out for students in Semester 1: iCent App

2023 sees the introduction of an exciting new app specifically developed for domestic Unitec students. The app, designed in conjunction with Canadian app developer, iCent, will be rolled out late January. Previously only used by international students, the domestic version of the app will ensure that Unitec complies with the Code of Practice for all tertiary students. It is expected that all Unitec students, including domestic and international, will be using the same app by the end of Semester 1, 2023.

The app contains a lot of useful information to help students become more familiar with Unitec and to access student support services. The app’s dashboard features Bookings & Appointments, Services drop-in, Learning Support, Well-being & Safety, Campus Community, Moodle, Complaints & Feedback, Social Networks, Events & Activities and FAQ. In Social Networks, students and staff will be able to post notices for events, employment opportunities and the like. There is also a chat function which will allow students to text or call each other without needing mobile numbers.
