Our Student Net Promoter Score returns to an all-time high

Our key indicator of student engagement, the Student Net Promoter Score (NPS), has recorded a return to its best-ever result of 43 for new students and 23 for returning students. (NB: Header Te Te Aka Kawerongo has error, these are the correct figures)

Semester 1’s high result was particularly gratifying given the challenging disruptions of Covid-19 and a transition to Te Pūkenga, and is in line with industry benchmarks.

The result demonstrates better outcomes for our ākonga, who in their feedback to the biannual survey, have praised our communications and outreach, and consistently rate our Student Services highly.

Positivity for choosing to study at Unitec is at an all-time high, with one respondent saying:

“Having studied at multiple locations, I can honestly say there is no other place like Unitec. Not only is the support from lecturers and learning advisors helpful but also the overall environment and kaupapa of Unitec makes it stand out from the rest.”

New students gave a variety of reasons for their positive NPS scores, including saying they felt welcomed, supported and enjoyed class. Satisfaction with the range of student support services on offer is high, and satisfaction with student culture and course structure has increased.

For new students, both belonging and goal orientation are at their highest levels over the past three years.

In the Semester 1, 2022 survey, the School of Architecture increased 26 points (from -1 to 25 points) on Semester 2, 2021 – the highest increase of any School. Environmental and Animal Sciences increased 15 points, and both the Schools of Community Studies and Applied Business increased 11 points.

The School of Community Studies is the highest performing School on 43, followed by Trades & Services on 39.
