Mobile Phones

The administration of all Unitec mobile devices and connections will be managed as per IT Policies & Guidelines.

New Devices

Requests to provision new staff should be raised through IT Self Service. IT maintains a stock of a standard devices (medium range) that will be assigned to new staff. Where possible, we encourage staff to use their personal device, with a Unitec provided connection.

Data Services

Unitec is subscribed to a Service Programme with Vodafone that enables unlimited talk and text within NZ and a pool of 500GB data to be shared amongst all Unitec connections. Mobile date usage is capped at 1.5GB per month per user.

  • Where available, staff should make use of Eduroam wireless networks at participating tertiary institutions.
  • If roaming services are required for business purposes, prior approval is required from a manager.

Lost or Stolen Device

Staff are to contact IT purchasing immediately when they discover the device is missing. Should this occur out of office hours, staff are to notify Vodafone to put a block on the number. The staff member is required to report to the NZ Police the device lost and send the report to IT purchasing. Then follow the process for new phone request.
