Loan Equipment

IT provides loan AV equipment to Unitec staff and external clients. The equipment is available for staff/external clients who need the use of a projector, laptop or screen to run a presentation for a short period of time only.  The laptops are NOT available to loan for general use or for staff awaiting equipment to be repaired.

Equipment available:

  • Projectors
  • Laptops
  • Portable screens (Available with stand or without)
  • Speaker phone (Standard Pacific telephone with ‘speaker phone’ function)
  • Polycom teleconferencing unit (for 1-1 teleconferences)

Bookings:
Bookings must be made for this equipment. Please contact the IT Help Desk on extn 8484 or via email to itsupport@unitec.ac.nz
Please provide at least 3 – 5 days notice for your booking. Our equipment is in high demand so we cannot guarantee it will be available.  Bookings will only be made once we have the following information: Reason for use, Pick up date and exact time, return date and exact time, location it will be used in, what equipment is required and your contact details.

Conditions:

  • The equipment is NOT to be taken off campus (unless preapproved)
  • The equipment is only to be used for Unitec presentations, the equipment is not available for general use or for staff awaiting equipment to be repaired

Equipment collection and return:
Please collect and return the equipment to the ask IT Help Desk during our normal working hours.
Note: It is imperative that you return the equipment at the time you set when making the booking as equipment is often booked back to back. We will charge the late return penalty fee (see below) if a late delivery affects the next booking.

Support:
Technical support can be requested if you need assistance with connecting/using this equipment. Please request support with setting up the equipment when making your booking. Alternatively, the IT Help Desk staff can give you a quick demonstration of how to connect the equipment when you collect it from the Help Desk.

Liability:
Users who borrow AV equipment are responsible for the equipment until it is returned and signed off.  If equipment is stolen or damaged while in your care, you/your department are responsible for immediate replacement and repair.

Late return penalty:
The loan equipment is in high demand. It is therefore very important that you return the equipment at the time arranged when making a booking. If you intend on returning the equipment but are unable to during the normal hours of support please notify the ask IT Help Desk on Ext. 8484 ASAP. daily fee of $40.00 will be charged if the equipment is not returned at the arranged time.

Charges for Internal and External Customers:  

  • Unitec staff: There is no charge for Unitec staff to borrow the equipment within normal working hours. If you require support outside of normal working hours, please check After Hours Support.
  • External users: The charges below will apply for External users. If support is required there may be an additional charge.

Portable projector 1 full day(4 hours or more): $100.00
Half Day (4 hours or less): $50.00
Laptop 1 full day(4 hours or more): $80.00
Half Day (4 hours or less): $40.00
Portable screen No charges apply
