Congratulations to Simon Nash who has been appointed Director Ako – a new position.
The purpose of the role is to lead the strategic enhancement of teaching and learning, and to ensure there is an integrated approach to the provision of academic support for teachers and learners.
Since 2015 Simon held the role of Interim Manager – Te Puna Ako and previously was an Academic Advisor in our Teaching and Learning Unit for seven years.
Before joining Unitec, Simon was Lecturer and Programme Coordinator in Social Policy at Massey University and taught on undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, internally and at-distance. He also has experience in postgraduate supervision and working with university committees.
Simon is an extremely valuable addition to the academic leadership team; best wishes to him on his appointment.
While a replacement is being recruited for Simon, Academic Advisor, JJ Purton-Jones, has been appointed Acting Te Puna Ako Manager.
New Digital Learning Leader
Congratulations also to James Oldfield who has been appointed Digital Learning Leader at Unitec. This is a new position, the purpose of which is to provide leadership and strategic direction in digital learning and teaching. This includes online learning, the digital enhancement of face-to-face learning and blended learning.
