Come along to a big day out at the Wairaka Fiesta this Saturday, an afternoon of music, activities and entertainment!
The Fiesta is an opportunity for people from across Auckland as well as staff and student to explore what a great place our beautiful campus is for learning, living and recreation.
It’s also an opportunity to explore the shared bike/walking paths that lead that lead to Mt Albert campus. On the day, at 12.30pm, you can join in the Star Ride to the Wairaka Fiesta. The ride starts from five different nearby points and will be formally led so you can easily and safely find your way to Unitec by bike. Like the Fiesta, it’s family friendly so everyone is welcome.
The Star Ride meeting points are –
- Te Atatu interchange underpass on the Northwestern cycleway
- Pt Chevalier School, Te Ra Road
- Te Ara I Whiti (the pink lightpath) at Canada Street near Upper Queen Street
- Te Whitinga (‘The Crossing’) bridge at Kukuwai Park in Mt Albert
- Te Prininga (Alford Street) Bridge on the Waterview side
The five bike routes (scroll down for the map) all leave at the same time to finish at the Wairaka Fiesta, where there’ll be plenty happening for the whole family!
The live entertainment includes DJs Super Rad Babes and the main act is the The Beths. There will be food to purchase, a garden bar, ‘live art’, fun activities for the kids including a special bouncy castle and face painting, skateboarding demo, a bike mechanic on site and much more!

Don’t have a bike?
You can use a Unitec pool bike for this event, go to how to book bikes (scroll down to the bottom of the Nest post for the instructions). You are of course welcome to come along without a bike! Just head to gate 3 and follow the signs.
